RE: Nashville North CG, Goodlettsville

We stayed there in May for 5 days. We liked it. Large spaces, clean and very friendly. On Thursday night they have a free concert with local talent.

RE: My turn to wine about mpg (follow up observation)

We have a 40' Journey with a 350 CAT and just finished a 6000 mile trip.
8.4 mpg round trip. Cruised at 57 mph most of the time and on some tanks of fuel when it was flat we got almost 9 mpg.

RE: Need Ideas for sight to see in the Idaho panhandle

Take your bicycle and ride the Trail of the Coeur d' Alene or the Hiawatha Trail. You can also rent bikes at the trailhead of the Hiawatha Trail.

RE: I-5 or CA-99

We have been on 99 and 5 a lot in the last couple years in a motorhome with a toad. I like 5 because I put it on cruise control and go. I don't have to worry about on and off ramp traffic as much and I thought 99 has a LOT more potholes, construction and traffic. Some places it isn't even a freeway and you have to worry about cross traffic. The last time on 99 was about a year ago and I hated it. I guess it all depends on how you look at it.

RE: Right Coast to the Left Coast? Anyone?

We're going to San Antonio, Austin, New Orleans, Memphis, Nashville, Branson, Denver, Salt Lake City. We have been planning this trip a long time and an extra $800-$900 for fuel isn't going to stop us. We just won't be able to spend as much on tourist things but we will see a lot of this beautiful country.

RE: O.C. to Santa Rosa, Ca

Once your on I-80 we go on over to 101 on 37 just a few miles west of 12. But that would depend on what time on day you are on get to 101. I wouldn't go that way if you get to 101 past 4:00 PM. We go that way to see our daughter in the Bay area.

RE: Electrical Question

110 volts is still low voltage. It should be 120 volts measured by a volt meter. The power company can vary by 5% either way here in California anyway. Check the voltage at where you are plugged in. If you put load on the circuit and it goes way up or way down you have a loose neutral.

RE: Balloon Fest.....

We went last year. If you can plan some time in N. New Mexico. It's fantastic especially Santa Fe and the pueblos. We were there for the first 3 days and had a good time. We stayed in the standard RV parking and used the shuttle. We are trying to go again this year.

Weather

We are headed to the south and Midwest for the first time in May and I watch the weather on TV and am wondering what do you do in severe weather? If there is a tornado watch or one sited do you try to get out of the area? Do you have a radio with an alarm to let you know severe weather is in the area?
Thanks for the info.

RE: Emergency Road Service

Stay away from AAA. We called them and it became a nightmare. We were going to have to be put on a lowboy trailer to get it to a facility and they said I would have get a permit from the DMV because of the height. Here we are stuck without our toad no transportation and not knowing where a DMV office was and WE had to get a permit. I told them I didn't have a way to get a permit or where to get a permit but they said it wasn't their problem and WE had to get the permit. Now we are with Good Sam. Another time we had a flat tire on the toad and I called them. An hour and a half later I changed the tire myself.

RE: Journey valve adjustment

Sacramento Ford Truck IS an authorized service center for CAT engines and Winnebago. I wouldn't take it to a Ford pickup dealer. I wanted to hear from Journey owners. I realize every manufacturer makes their motorhomes different. Some it is easy to get to the engine others not so easy and since the Winnebago office was closed I thought I would get some ideas on how to take it apart.
Thanks for the help.

Journey valve adjustment

We have a 2005 40' Journey with a CAt engine. It is time for the valve adjustment and the mechanic from Sacramento Ford Truck can't get to the valve cover. He says he has to take apart the bed and pull up the carpet to get to the engine. He quoted 6 hours to do that and adjust the valves and put it together. Does this sound right. I looked at it and don't any other way to get to the valve cover. Any suggestions? I'm calling the factory but I would like input from other Journey owners.
Thanks.
